High School Invitational Rowing Regatta

Sponsored by the South Niagara Rowing Club - Dain City (Welland), Ontario - Saturday, May 19th and Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Volunteers Needed for High School Invitational Rowing Regatta

NPARC station at the starting line The South Niagara Rowing Club in Welland has contacted N.P.A.R.C. and is requesting communication assistance with their first regatta of the year, the High School Invitational. It will be held on Saturday and Sunday May 19th and 20th on the southern section of the old canal. We would need 3 operators per shift with the event starting at approximately 7:30 a.m. and finishing around 6 p.m. each day. We will need an operator at the boat house, one at the finish line and one at the start. Six volunteers are needed each day to make it work. Register to help at the general meeting this Thursday, April 12th at 7:30 p.m at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fonthill. If you are an amateur radio operator with a mobile or base 2 meter rig complete with antenna and power supply than we can use your help. If you don't have a radio, we can still use your help. Power is available at the start, finish and boat house. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

NPARC Volunteers Made for a Smooth Regatta

With the participation and involvement of the following people, I had the pleasure of working at the South Niagara Rowing Club Kiwanis High School Invitational Regatta this past weekend and, despite a few challenges, it was indeed a pleasure:

Rick Hughes VE3ATM, who brought the opportunity to the club and worked both days at the Finish Line; Frank Endenburg VE3SQ, who worked both Sat. and Sun. mornings at the damp and cold Starting Gate and kindly transported me and our gear to the event; Bob Mitchell VE3KYA, who worked both afternoons at the Finish Line and kindly transported me and our gear home from the event; Brian Kent VE3BMX, who worked both mornings - at different stations; Dave Flarity VE3DVE, who worked both afternoons at the Finish Line; David Hodson VA3UL, who worked both mornings at the Finish Line; Jim Thompson VE3BCA, who worked at the Finish Line on Sun afternoon; Bob Miller VE3HNH, who worked at the Starting Gate on Sun morning; Denis Grantham VE3KVE, who worked at the Starting Gate on Sun afternoon; Peter Shaver VE3SFN, who worked at the Starting Gate on Sat afternoon.

Not only do I want to give my personal thanks and congratulation for a job well done to all the others who've participated, but I received the following (edited somewhat) from Rick VE3ATM on behalf of the SNRC:
