Volunteers Needed for the Grande Parade

The Niagara Peninsula Amateur Radio Club has been asked to supply volunteer communications for the Niagara Grape and Wine Grande Parade. To volunteer and to get more information, contact our Special Events Co-ordinator at events @ nparc.on.ca. The parade takes place Saturday, September 29th, 2007.

The 56th Annual Pen Centre Grande Parade will present an outstanding array of floats, marching bands, drum corps, majorettes, costumed characters, steel bands and so much more! The Grande Parade will attract upwards of 200,000 spectators to the streets of Downtown St. Catharines, and entries from Ontario and the northeastern United States.

Well another last minute request was done by a super bunch of people again!

I received a phone call from the Grape and Wine Parade organizer on the Wednesday before the parade. Due to some confusion with the marshals quitting, they said they did not know how to get intouch with NPARC and they did not know that we have worked on the parade for many years. Any way we pulled off the best job that we could and I would like to say THANKS to the twelve people that came out and tolerated all the confusion. They had a party the same night as our meeting night and I like everyone else chose to go to the meeting. Hopefully there will be a debriefing meeting which I plan on attending. If you have any comments to pass on, please e-mail them to me and hopefully we can help get better results next year.
