VE3BBN Saves the Day
Over a week before the Friendly Foes Above the Falls Air Show took to the air, the vintage headset worn by the ME 109 pilot would not work. NPARC President Dave, VA3UL linked up Dave, VE3BBN with the Russell Group to see if it could be repaired. If anyone could repair this old headset, Dave could. As a thank-you for the repair. Dave was given the privilege of sitting in the Mark IX Spitfire. Here he is giving us a thumbs-up with a grin from ear to ear. Way to go Dave. Next to Dave is pilot Alan Walker.
Russell Group Friendly Foes Above the Falls Air Show a Success
A well done goes out to everyone who helped put on the Air Show. The weather was perfect and the exhibits were memorable from the B-17 to the Lancaster. NPARC had the privilege of providing communications for this great event. Here are a few pictures from the weekend air show. More photos will be posted as they get processed so check the Club Archives page regularly. Enjoy.
John, VA3BOZ and Brydon, VE3ABO stand in front of the NPARC control station while Frank, VE3KLM stands in the door way. To the right a Fleet Canuck poses for a photo.
On the left is a deHavilland Chipmunk and on the right a Yale with several Harvards in the background all in Royal Canadian Air Force colours.
The Memphis Belle, a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress receives visitors while on the right, one of only two flying Lancasters in the world does a fly-by.
A Hurricane taxis to the runway and the Lincoln and Welland Regiment Military Museum shows off some of their heavy equipment on the right.
The Canadian Military Heritage Society displays vintage communication equipment under camouflage webbing while a vintage looking control tower on the right kept things running smoothly. That is Bob, VE3HNH on the left.

Russell Group Air Show and NPARC
That's it for another year. The Russell Group Air Show has come and gone and I would like to thank the 20 people that helped me pull it off. It was another success by the members of NPARC some of who spent the whole weekend on the event. The weather was a real change from last year and no rain. The food that we had was a surprise as I for one expected something like hotdogs & hamburgs and very little time getting our meals.
I would also like to thank Dave VE3FOI and his group of 5 people for the very good but not to successful try of the Special Event Station due to a problem of interfering with their PA system. I think the problem was their's and not ours. If we try it again next year we will try to find another location away from the tower.
And a special thanks to the Salvation Army for the use of there emergency kitchen for the event and also a special thanks to Scott VA3XLX for bringing out his off road vehicle.
GREAT JOB GANG
John, VA3BOZ
