2006 Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival
Port Colborne, ON - Saturday August 5th and Sunday August 6th, 2006
Canal Days is a Marine Hertage Festival celebrating the history of the Welland Ship Canal in Port Colborne, Ontario. The Welland Ship Canal, a modern day wonder, carries large ocean ships around Niagara Falls and over the Niagara Escarpment from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. Concerts, tall ships, fireworks, rides and exhibits will abound during the first weekend in August. The Canal Days website has more information.
Nparc will be operating a Special Events Station Saturday August 5th, 2006 and Sunday August 6th, 2006 during the festival at Lock 8 in Port Colborne. Lock 8 is one of the longest locks in the world. The station call sign will be VE3WCD. WCD for Welland Canal Days. Doug VE3JDF is looking for volunteers to set up on Friday afternoon August 4th and loggers and operators for Saturday and Sunday.
